Why no Field Trips?

by Alice Goodwin

Linguistics is such an interesting course. We learn everything from analysing weird and wonderful languages from across the world to looking at how chimpanzees communicate. It’s so diverse, but it feels like something’s missing! Many other UWE degree courses involve field trips across the world and in the UK but why doesn’t ours?! While other courses such as Conservation Biology are living it up in Cuba we could be getting the most out of our course too, like visiting schools in China or India, or even just popping across to Wales for a quick Welsh lesson! A change of location could be inspiring and give us a deeper understanding of our subject (and wouldn’t it be fun!).

  1. When you’ve decided which field you would like to go to, I would be happy to oblige with a workshop on field-names.
