Yes, I won!! I was nominated by my students!
It’s a joy being a personal tutor, and I’m looking forward to next term, when we roll out this programme across all levels.
I think our best move last year was to introduce personal tutors not just at level 1 (as required) but also at level 3, instead of the outgoing ‘GDP’ (for those who still know what that is). Level 3 is characterised by big decisions, hard work and a lot of pressure. While students at this level generally know their academics well, having a specified personal tutor has made a real difference. For me it was amazing as well to see how you were all preparing for ‘after uni’ – or at least starting to think about this; how you realised which skills you had gained and how your time at university had changed and enriched you.
