This past week LingSoc have held our AGM and we are now looking to the future.
One reform that we are looking to make is going back to basics – being a strong link between the three stages of the English Language and Linguistics course. We want to change the name to make this more clear – my personal favourite choice being ‘UWE Language and Linguistics Society’, but really we want to see what is preferred by you. The link to cast your ‘vote’ is on the following Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/matt.vicker#!/uwelingsoc/posts/660380247362038?stream_ref=10.
Another way we want to evolve is to become a free society – not charging for membership. We hope that this will improve membership and enhance the network opportunity that our society should offer.
The committee for next year will consist of Tom Warner, Rachael Fundrey, Tasnia Rahman, Milenka Stevens and myself, and we look forward to bringing the society forward. If you have any ideas on anything you think we should be doing, don’t hesitate to get in contact – on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/uwelingsoc) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
