When you’ve written the first draft of an essay or assignment, put it away for 24 hours and don’t look at it.
After your break, come back and print out the essay. Then read it aloud – or ask a friend to read it to you. This may feel silly, but it is really worthwhile. Seeing your essay on paper and hearing it are both brilliant ways to help you spot problems and mistakes.
If you’d like to book a confidential one-to-one session with me to work on your writing skills, please email Harriet.Castor@uwe.ac.uk
I’m at Frenchay on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
