As the beginning of September (and the new term) draw closer, we see another instalment of ‘new words added to dictionaries’. The BBC reports that OxfordDictionaries.Com have added words such as ‘manspreading’ – men sitting with legs wide apart on public transport, taking up lots of space. Quite a useful word, I think! Will it raise the same awareness of (what some consider annoying) habits, similar to the ‘selfie’ (introduced in a similar manner a few years ago)?
